Our Story
About Us

How it started
We’re Will and Issy, the couple behind Wizzy Campers.
It all started eight years ago with our first van conversion. Every build since then has been bigger and better. We were based in Bristol for years, chasing weekends and holidays around the UK, with Devon and Wales as regular haunts.

On the road
Every summer we’d load up for a road trip through the French, Italian and Swiss Alps, winding down mountain passes and through quaint villages to find some of the best mountain biking in Europe.
Last year we took the leap. We quit our jobs and set off to New Zealand, planning to buy a campervan once we got there. But with four bikes, a high standard for our gear and a very specific idea of what a home on wheels should look like, the right van just didn’t exist. So we built one ourselves.

Building Mary and Marvin
After eight weeks of hard graft, Mary was born, a fully off-grid campervan built to house us, our bikes and all our adventure gear. We lived in her for months, exploring New Zealand from top to bottom. When we wanted to get smaller and go deeper into the mountains, Marvin, our 4x4, took us there too, through snow, rivers and gravel tracks.
By the time we got home, our appetite for van adventures was satisfied, but our passion for it was only just getting started.

Coming home
We moved to the Scottish Borders and it didn’t take long to work out what came next. We wanted other people to experience van life the way we had: properly, comfortably and without compromise.
That’s how Wizzy Campers came about.
Campervans converted to meet your every need, with every detail thoughtfully designed, from wetsuit hangers and pet seatbelts to built-in bike washes.

In the family
Every van in the Wizzy Campers fleet starts life as a Ford, and that’s not a coincidence.
Will’s family has been in the motor trade for over a hundred years, running Priests of Chesham and, more recently, Priests Ford, a family-run dealership that’s been serving Buckinghamshire for generations. Growing up around forecourts and workshops, Fords were never just a make of van to Will; they were the family business.
So when it came to choosing what to build Wizzy Campers on, there was only ever one choice. It means every conversion starts from a base we trust completely, and it’s our way of carrying a bit of that hundred-year family tradition forward, one road trip at a time.

Where we're rooted
We’re proud to call Innerleithen home and to be part of the local community here.
Every van we hire out has been designed and converted by us, so when you hire from Wizzy Campers, you’re talking directly to the people who know every screw, every wire and every detail.
Every screw. Every wire. Every detail.
